We’re field-oriented and lab members have taken part in research cruises in many parts of the world. Here’s some info on some of our recent cruises, along with selected images from sea.

EMB297: Baltic Sea, August – September 2022

This cruise was led by Dr. Natalie Loick-Wilde of the Institut für Ostseeforschung, Warnemünde to explore the impact of nitrogen fixation on planktonic food webs of the Baltic Sea. We staged out of Rostock, Germany.


M174: Atlantic and Amazon Plume Region, April-May 2021

M174 Cruise track.

This cruise was led by Dr. Maren Voss of the Institut für Ostseeforschung, Warnemünde to explore the impact of the Amazon Plume on nitrogen fixation and productivity in the Tropical Atlantic. We staged out of Las Palmas in the Canaries and returned to Emden Germany, with a fuel stop in the Azores.
